The Deputy General Secretary of the United Party (UP), Nana Yaw Sarpong, has stated that institutions should adopt elements of ‘Agenda 111’.

He mentioned that labour unions could use some aspects of this agenda to generate funds for themselves.

Speaking on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Thursday, November 20, 2025, he said that the government should not own everything to avoid excessive burdens.

“I am not in support of the government owning everything, as this places a significant burden on it. When the government is burdened, other sectors suffer,” he said following President John Mahama’s plan to engage faith-based organizations in completing the stalled ‘Agenda 111’ projects.

According to Sarpong, there are private individuals who wish to establish specialized hospitals, and the government could allocate some elements of ‘Agenda 111’ to finance these initiatives.

He urged financial institutions and churches to collaborate on supporting the health sector.

“Banks could partner with churches—especially the Presbyterian, Methodist, and SDA churches, which are already involved in health missions—to determine how they can support the government with ‘Agenda 111’.

“Beyond the government’s outreach to churches, we can also involve our Muslim counterparts because they have access to donor funds.”

Mr. Sarpong added “Considering how they financed the National Mosque and the Central Mosque, they can participate in adapting ‘Agenda 111’ and contribute accordingly.”
