Mzbel has opened up about her views on marriage, revealing that despite being in a committed five years relationship, she had no desire to get married.
Speaking in an interview, Mzbel explained that marriage comes with lifestyle restrictions she is not willing to accept.
According to her, the expectations placed on married women can feel overwhelming.
“Marriage changes your lifestyle; you can’t do certain things. People will keep reminding you that you’re a married woman,” she said.
She added that the institution of marriage feels limiting.
“Being married is like being trapped in a cage. You can’t even hug a male friend, and you can’t do certain things on social media,” she stated.
Mzbel explained that she values her freedom and independence.
“Before you wanted to get married to me, I was having fun and living freely. All of a sudden when you get married, you have to put a stop to things,” she added.
She stressed that she walks away quickly from partners who show controlling behaviour.
“If we are dating and I see you’re the controlling type, I will just cut you off,” she said.
