The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have removed Alhaji Seidu Abagre, the purportedly enskinned Bawku Naba, from the area.

The removal is in accordance with the recommendations outlined in the mediation report of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II, on the long-standing Bawku conflict.

According to a statement issued by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak (MP), the action was carried out on Wednesday, December 24, 2025,  as part of the government’s implementation of the Otumfuo’s peace roadmap.

The statement emphasized that Alhaji Seidu Abagre is safe and currently in the care of the security agencies.

The move marks a significant step in the government’s efforts to restore peace and stability in Bawku, a town that has been plagued by protracted conflict.

The Otumfuo’s mediation, widely regarded as a crucial intervention, recommended measures aimed at de-escalating tensions and fostering reconciliation among the factions.
