The government will soon receive three hundred (300) ISUZU buses to boost public transportation and improve mobility across the country.

The Deputy Minister for Transport, Hon. Dorcas Affo Toffey, disclosed this after undertaking a final inspection of the buses in Egypt on behalf of the Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe.

Speaking on the exercise, the Deputy Minister said the inspection was carried out together with the management of Metro Mass Transit to ensure that the buses meet required technical, safety, and operational standards before their delivery to Ghana.

She explained that the procurement of the buses forms part of a broader policy direction by the Ministry of Transport to strengthen Ghana’s public transport system through strategic investment in modern, efficient, and reliable mass transit solutions.

According to her, the arrival of the buses will significantly expand the country’s public transport fleet, improve service coverage across major routes, and reduce long waiting times for commuters, especially during peak hours.

She added that the intervention will help decongest roads, lower overall transport costs, and enhance safety and comfort for workers, students, traders, and the general public, while also contributing to a more orderly and environmentally responsible urban transport system.

Hon. Dorcas Affo Toffey stated that the initiative aligns with the development agenda of President John Dramani Mahama, aimed at building a better, more efficient, and inclusive national transport network.

She expressed gratitude to the Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, for the confidence reposed in her to lead the inspection exercise, describing his leadership as instrumental in delivering practical transport solutions that directly improve the lives of citizens.

The Ministry of Transport, she assured, remains committed to implementing its mandate with accountability and purpose, ensuring that major interventions such as the delivery of the ISUZU buses translate into real benefits for the Ghanaian people and advance the Better Ghana Agenda.
