The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has approved a detailed roadmap to guide its nationwide branch reorganisation,  member registration, and branch elections under strict supervision at all party levels.

Speaking during a press conference at the party headquarters in Accra on Thursday, January 29, 2026, the General Secretary of NDC, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey pointed out that the first phase involves the return of registers and books from branches to the national level.

“This is a very critical assignment from the branches going all the way to the national level. Registers will be returned to the branches between January 30 and February 10. Regional and constituency secretaries will be responsible for this activity, supervised by the national, regional, and constituency executive committees,” he explained.

The second phase is new member registration and register updates, set for February 10 to March 30, 2026

According to him “this is an important opportunity for young people who have just become eligible to vote, as well as older members who want to formally identify with the party.”

He mentioned that branch executives will lead the registration exercise under the oversight of national, regional, and constituency executive committees.

The third stage, the authentication of registers, will run from April 2 to April 30, 2026 to ensure that all branch registers are accurate and verifiable. Constituency executives will manage the process, under supervision from the national, regional, and constituency committees.

“Supervision is happening at every level because this is critical. The national and regional executives are closely monitoring these processes to ensure everything aligns with party rules,” he stated.

The roadmap sets April 10 to 16, 2026 for the picking of branch nomination forms, followed by vetting and appeals from May 20 to June 30, and validation of elected branch executives from July 10 to July 30, 2026.

“We want to ensure that no one is blocked from participating due to vested interests. This is about transparency and fairness,” Mr. Kwetey stressed.

“This final stage ensures that all branch election results are authentic and properly validated through discipline, transparency, and adherence,” he added.

He encouraged members to stay involved and respect the timelines, saying, “Every member has a role to play in ensuring the success of our internal elections.”
