Leader of the Union Government (UG), Akwasi Adai Odike, has said that, President John Mahama cannot implement the 24-hour economy initiative he promised Ghanaias during his 2024 election campaign.
Speaking on Angel FM and AngelTV on Monday, February 2, 2026, the business mogul reiterated that the initiative would not work.
“It will not work, because the environment we are in now, is not conducive for the 24-hour economy,”he highlighted.
He pointed out several key challenges facing the country, including a lack of public transport services, the absence of a rail system and difficulties with food exports.
“I challenged him from the day he revealed this initiative, and I’m still on the stance,
“You don’t have a public service transport, there’s no train and there’s no interconnectivity,” he emphasized.
“So Mahama should have said that he is going to establish an enterprise economy, elevating the small-scale enterprises into corporate entities,” he suggested.
