The United Nations’ Editor‑in‑Chief, Ben Dotsei Malor, has disseminated a photograph depicting two distinguished Zambian cabinet ministers adorned in traditional Ghanaian fugu garments, which has occasioned a notable celebration of African cultural exchange.

The occasion arose after a recent incident in which certain Zambian netizens publicly mocked the appearance of President John Dramani Mahama while he wore a fugu during an event in Lusaka, Zambia’s capital city.

The online commentary derogatorily referred to the fugu as a “blouse,” disparaging the traditional Ghanaian attire.

In response to this cultural slight, Zambia’s Minister for Technology and Science, Felix Mutati, and Minister for Tourism, Rodney Sikumba, chose to don Ghanaian fugu garments as a gesture of respect and solidarity with Ghanaian culture.

Mr. Mutati is attired in a blue‑striped fugu, while Mr. Sikumba wears a red‑accented fugu and bears a distinguished beard.

The accompanying social‑media caption by Mr. Malor reads: “Zambia – Ghana – two Zambian cabinet ministers in the fugu… one people. one love.”

The imagery illustrates the ministers’ dignified adoption of the fugu, a venerable Ghanaian smock emblematic of heritage and unity.

Mr. Malor, in his capacity as Editor‑in‑Chief at the United Nations, employed the occasion to accentuate diplomatic amity between the Republic of Zambia and the Republic of Ghana, emphasizing cultural attire as a conduit for inter‑national rapport and a rebuttal to the earlier cultural mockery.

Observations of the event characterize it as an elegant diplomatic gesture that integrates Zambian governmental prominence with Ghanaian textile tradition, thereby advancing African solidarity and sartorial esteem upon an international platform.

The publication has garnered attention for its blend of political diplomacy, fashion, and Pan‑African unity, demonstrating how cultural artifacts such as the fugu may foster camaraderie among national leaders and promote intercultural understanding and respect.
