Experienced tactician Abdul Karim Zito Kabutey has stepped down from his role as head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Angelonline.com.gh can confirm.

According to a notice sighted on the club’s official social media handles, the resignation occurred on Monday, February 9, 2026.

“Abdul Karim Zito Kabutey has resigned from his role as the head coach of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club with immediate effect,” said the club.

The Ghana Premier League side further stated that management has accepted the resignation of their former player and employee.

Asante Kotoko also expressed appreciation to Mr. Zito for his services and wished him the best in his future endeavors.

The notice added that the new technical direction of the club will be communicated in due course.

Coach Zito’s resignation comes on the back of the Reds’ elimination from the Round of 16 of the FA Cup to Aduana Stars on Sunday, February 8, via a post-match penalty shootout.

He officially joined the Kumasi-based club in July 2025 on a two-year contract as their new head coach.
