Government has announced that it will provide a comprehensive roadmap to address the ongoing cocoa sector crisis on Thursday, February 12, 2026.

The roadmap, expected to be unveiled, follows an emergency cabinet meeting convened at the Presidency on Wednesday, February 11.

In a public notice issued after the cabinet session, Minister of Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu disclosed that the Minister for Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson, will brief the media on decisive measures agreed upon by cabinet.

“The emergency cabinet session on Cocoa sector has ended. Minister for Finance will hold a media briefing tomorrow to announce decisive measures taken,” he said.

According to him, these measures will focus on punitive measures to the pressing issues at hand.

“…To expedite payment to farmers, implement a new financing model for Cocoa purchases, unprecedented ramp-up in domestic processing of cocoa among others,” the notice reads further.

The emergency session, summoned by President John Dramani Mahama, was necessitated by challenges in the cocoa industry, including delayed payments to farmers and concerns over financing models for cocoa purchases.
