The Deputy Director-General of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), Alexander Twum-Barimah (Esq), has disclosed that cannabis cultivation remains prevalent in some parts of the country, particularly in the Oti and Volta regions.

Speaking on Anopa B)fo) programme on Angel TV/FM on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, he stated that although there are other regions engaging in the practice, the above mentioned regions supersede all.

“Oti and Volta regions remain the most dominant areas,” he revealed while responding to a question posted by the host, Saddick Adams.

Speaking further, Twum-Barimah noted that cocaine activity has shown a notable presence in the Greater Accra Region, referencing the arrest of a suspected drug dealer whose main trade was in cocaine.

“We arrested a Nigerian man who owns many businesses and properties in Ghana, including ten (10) buildings. Upon his arrest, we discovered more than 2 million dollars on him,” he indicated.
