Maame Efua Houadjeto named most performed public company CEO 2025

Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto, has been honoured as the Most Performed Public Company CEO of 2025 in recognition of her exceptional leadership, outstanding performance and strategic excellence.

The award was presented during the Radio and Television Personality (RTP) Awards, hosted by Big Events Ghana at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday, February 7, 2026.

Dr Prince Emmanuel Markey, Founder and CEO of the RTP Awards, personally presented the citation.

The citation praised Maame Efua Houadjeto’s visionary leadership and results-driven governance, highlighting her role in strengthening institutional performance, enhancing stakeholder confidence and positioning the GTA as a key driver of growth, sustainability and national economic development.

“Through your commitment to innovation and forward-looking initiatives, you have elevated Ghana’s tourism sector on the global stage and set a distinguished standard within the public corporate space,” the citation read.

Under her leadership, the GTA has implemented initiatives that have boosted institutional efficiency, increased international tourist arrivals and enhanced Ghana’s visibility as a preferred travel destination, contributing significantly to national economic growth.

Receiving the award, Maame Efua Houadjeto expressed gratitude to her team, stakeholders and the government for their support.

“This recognition is a testament to the dedication and hard work of every member of the GTA. Together, we will continue to transform Ghana’s tourism landscape,” she said.

The RTP Awards, now in its annual edition, highlight and celebrate excellence in leadership across the public and private sectors, recognising individuals whose performance and innovation drive national development.

A Trailblazer in Leadership and Communication

With a career spanning more than three decades, Marilyn Maame Efua Sekyi-Aidoo Houadjeto has built a distinguished reputation as a communications specialist and strategic leader, shaping narratives, driving organisational growth and empowering teams across multiple sectors.

Fondly known as Maame Efua, she has extensive expertise in marketing communications, real estate, engineering, project management, event planning, politics and public sector governance.

Her professional achievements include transforming Ghana’s building and property exhibition industry, organising landmark international events and promoting the real estate and construction sectors over the past two decades.

She is the Founder and CEO of Image Consortium and Managing Director of IE Design, demonstrating her entrepreneurial and innovative leadership.

Beyond corporate accomplishments, Maame Efua has mentored the next generation of professionals, championing women in leadership, diversity and capacity-building initiatives.

Her community contributions are significant and include the donation of computers and boreholes, the provision of educational scholarships and support for small-scale businesses and entrepreneurs.

She also coordinated logistics for Ghanaians at international events such as the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

A sought-after speaker, trainer and consultant, Maame Efua continues to influence Ghana’s corporate and public sector landscape, leveraging her expertise to promote strategic governance, ethical communication and organisational excellence.

Born on October 6, 1972, she is a devoted wife of 28 years and mother of two daughters.

Her visionary leadership, integrity and unwavering commitment to service have set a benchmark for public sector and corporate performance, earning her recognition as one of Ghana’s most accomplished and impactful leaders.
