Incompetent ‘Randy Abbey’ should be fired as COCOBOD CEO – Odike

The Founder and Leader of the Union Government (UG), Akwasi Addae Odike, has stated that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of COCOBOD, Randy Abbey, should be removed from office due to his alleged incompetence.

According to him, Mr. Abbey should have been fired as the first point of action after President John Mahama convened an emergency cabinet meeting amid the cocoa sector crisis.

“He should have been the first person to be fired when they held the cabinet meeting because the explanation he gave is unfathomable,” he maintained in his submission on Angel TV, Monday, February 16, 2026.

Speaking further, he accused the COCOBOD boss of being ignorant about the cocoa sector he was appointed to head and believed his appointment stemmed from friendship and cronyism.

“If there is any explanation, then it’s Randy Abbey who should give it, but unfortunately, Randy Abbey cannot even speak because he knows nothing about cocoa. That is not how it works.

“President John Dramani Mahama has brought his best friend, called Randy Abbey, to sit in the seat at COCOBOD. I know he is your childhood friend, but that’s not how we operate,” he reiterated.

He highlighted that the cocoa crisis has had a significant economic impact on cocoa farmers, affecting their social lives as well. “Economically, you have made the cocoa farmers wretched; this crisis has affected their social life.”

“Today, your actions are jeopardizing the cocoa business. Now, no young man in the village is willing to venture into cocoa cultivation because the money is vested in COCOBOD,” he expressed bitterly.
