President John Dramani Mahama has hailed the 24-hour economy initiative as the boldest economic transformation effort in Ghana’s history, emphasizing its potential to tackle economic challenges and create employment opportunities.

The 24-hour economy aims to modernize Ghana’s business environment, attract foreign and local investments, and create a more dynamic and inclusive market that operates around the clock.

Addressing the State of the Nation on the floor of Parliament on Friday, February 27, 2026, President Mahama noted that a significant budgetary allocation has been made to ensure the successful setup and functioning of the 24-Hour Economy Authority.

“Mr. Speaker, in this year’s budget, GHC110 million has been allocated to begin the setting up and implementation of the 24 Hour Economy Authority,” stressing that “these resources will enable businesses to operate beyond traditional business hours, attract investment through strategic partnerships,” he said.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to long-term economic transformation, President Mahama noted the strategic partnerships for sustainable growth, particularly benefiting the youth in maintaining hope and prosperity.

“With the Development Bank of Ghana and the Ghana Infrastructure and Investment Fund will strengthen the foundation for sustained growth and job creation, especially for our young people,” his excellency pointed out.

He stressed that “the initiative is about building prosperity and restoring hope for our people through concrete action.”
