President John Dramani Mahama has announced a commitment of GH¢110 million to launch the 24-hour Economy initiative.

This funding has been earmarked in the 2026 budget to implement a project aimed at boosting job creation and sustaining economic growth.

During his State of the Nation address to Parliament on Friday, February 27, 2026, President Mahama stated that the initiative will represent one of the significant economic transformation efforts in Ghana’s recent history.

He emphasised that the allocated GH¢110 million would facilitate the establishment and implementation of the 24-hour economy.

He pointed out that these resources will enable businesses to operate beyond traditional hours, thereby attracting investment through strategic partnerships with the Agricultural Development Bank and the Ghana Infrastructure and Business Funds.

President Mahama expressed that this initiative is essential for strengthening the foundation necessary to sustain growth and create jobs, particularly for the youth.

“This is about building prosperity and restoring our people’s hope through concrete action,” he added.
