The Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Adams, has confirmed that the newly appointed members of the Black Stars’ technical team will not receive a monthly salary for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

He noted however that these members will be entitled to other incentives including appearance fees.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced on February 6 the addition of five new personnel to the senior national team’s backroom staff.

Alain Ravera and Kim Lars Björkegren have been appointed assistant coaches, while Jose Daniel Martínez Alfonso joins as the team’s analyst. Carlos Lozano Romero and Dwayne Peasah Paa Kwesi complete the appointments as a psychologist and a performance coach, respectively.

Speaking to Citi Sports, the minister said “None of them will be on any salary. None of them is on a salary, but they will benefit from some of the allowances that are paid to the team, and these additions are just for the World Cup.

“After the World Cup, the contract arrangement ends, so they will benefit from some money, including maybe the appearance fees that are paid, but they will not get 100% of their appearance fees,” he said.

Mr. Adams added that “Of course, they will also benefit from the winning bonuses that are entitled to any member of the team when they win, and then, of course, the per diems that are paid to team members, they will be entitled to.”
