Member of Parliament (MP) for Akwatia, Bernard Bediako Esq., has asserted that public officials arrested in connection with Tramadol trafficking at the port should face legal consequences.

Speaking on ‘Anɔpa Bɔfoɔ’ on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, Bediako emphasized that those involved should be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others, describing the situation as a serious issue.

“I thank God they could not get away with it, but as they are being caught, they should not just be fired; let’s prosecute them,” he stated.

He urged journalists to stay vigilant and follow up on the case, suggesting that if the police are involved in the arrests, reporters should check in weekly for updates.

He reiterated the need for a leadership reshuffle to ensure that some top officials are being accountable for their actions.

“It’s not just politicians who should be prosecuted, everyone involved needs to be held accountable. Some leaders should also be reshuffled, because what is going on is not good,” he stressed.

He further advised the youth to take care of themselves, highlighting the importance of health and well-being, as there will come a time when opportunities arise.
