The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has sworn in the Member of Parliament-elect of Ayawaso East, Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed, at a brief ceremony that took place in the chamber of the Parliament of Ghana on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

During the swearing-in, Mr. Baba Jamal took the oath of office and the oath of allegiance administered by the Speaker, formally initiating him into the process on the floor of the House as the representative of the Ayawaso East Constituency in Parliament.

The Speaker, after administering the oath, admonished the newly elected lawmaker to prioritize serving his constituents and the nation diligently and focus.

He stated that he will continue to monitor his performance keenly in line of duty and warned that he would campaign against him in the 2028 elections if he fails to deliver.

“In your campaign, you stated that you want to serve them (Ayawaso East) as a Member of Parliament, and by doing so, serve Ghana. You don’t want to serve Ghana as a High Commissioner in Nigeria,” the Speaker said.

“I will hold you accountable to the good people of Ayawaso East Constituency. If you don’t, I can assure you that I will be there [Ayawaso East Constituency] to campaign against you in the next election,” the Speaker said.

Baba Jamal acknowledged the Speaker’s words of advice and challenged with a handshake.
