President John Dramani Mahama has declared Monday, March 23, 2026, a public holiday.

‎In a statement released by the Ministry of Interior on Friday, March 13, 2026, it was noted that the Eid-Ul-Fitr and Shaqq Days, observed by our Muslim community, will fall on Friday, March 20, and Saturday, March 21, 2026, which are statutory public holidays.
‎
‎The statement, however, explained that since March 21, 2026, falls on a Saturday, the President of Ghana has added Monday as a public holiday.
‎
‎” His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has, by Executive Instrument (E.I), in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601), as amended,
‎
‎”Declared Monday, 23rd March 2026, as Additional Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country,” the ministry announced.
