‎The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has proposed a 25-year jail term for anyone who shares intimate images of minors online.
‎
‎Acting Director-General of the Authority, Mr. Divine Selase Agbeti stated that the CSA through the initiative seeks to protect young people from online abuse.
‎
‎”The Cyber Security Authority is implementing child online protection provisions to shield young people from abuse, exploitation and harassment,” he said this during a quiz competition organized by the CSA and C-Quansah foundation as part of Africa Safer Internet Day 2026 celebrations.
‎
‎He highlighted that such offences according to the law are punishable, referencing Section 62 – 66 (ACT 10,38).
‎
‎”Offences such as cyberstalking, sexual extortion, online bullying, and non- consensual sharing intimate images are serious crimes under the Section 62 – 66 of (Act 10,38) punishable by up to 25 years in prison,” he pointed out.
‎

‎He further emphasized that, Ghana will not allow criminals to turn the digital environment into a hunting ground for the children, adding that offenders will be found and prosecuted.
‎

Mr. Agbeti called for widespread advocacy in senior high schools, warning that thousands of students are at risk of falling victim to cybercrimes.
