The Ministry of Health has advanced cardiovascular care nationwide following a donation of over GH₵6 million worth of medical equipment from AYA and its partners under the AYA Integrated Healthcare Initiative.
The Ministry has also launched revised national guidelines for cardiovascular disease (CVD) management to standardize and improve health care across the country.
At the launch, the Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, unveiled updated CVD protocols alongside new CHPS implementation booklets and training manuals to strengthen frontline capacity and service delivery.
This combined effort, he stressed, will accelerate the government’s Free Primary Healthcare agenda by improving early detection and management of conditions such as hypertension and diabetes.
The donated equipment, including ECG machines, defibrillators, glucometers, and blood pressure monitors, will support 179 health facilities across seven regions.
Speaking on behalf of the GIZ Country Director, Mr Wilhelm Hugo highlighted the importance of partnerships in tackling non-communicable diseases and reaffirmed GIZ’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s health system.
This intervention reinforces the Ministry’s commitment to building a resilient, equitable, and high-quality healthcare system.
