The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), of Ga Central, Emmanuel Adotey Allotey, has clarified that President John Dramani Mahama never pledged to abandon sole sourcing during his quest for the Presidency as claimed by members of the opposition New Patroitic Party (NPP).

According to him, Mr. Mahama, instead, emphasized compliance with procurement laws to prevent abuse and therefore his position was not against the practice of sole sourcing itself, but against its misuse.

He explained that the President consistently highlighted the need to ensure transparency and accountability in public procurement processes.

Speaking on the Angel Angel TV, on Tyesday, March 31, 2026, Mr. Allotey expressed that President Mahama made it clear that he would avoid the abuse of sole sourcing, particularly where contracts were awarded to family and friends or inflated through overpricing, Mr. Allotey stated.

He further noted that at the time Mahama signed his vision document, which served as the party’s manifesto, approximately 98 percent of jobs in the country under the NPP were awarded through sole sourcing.

The MCE stressed that Mahama’s commitment was to regulate the system and ensure compliance with the Public Procurement Act, rather than to eliminate sole sourcing altogether.
