A teenager reportedly drowned in the Dawa River at ‘Teachers Quarters,’ a community of Gomoa Nyanyano in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.

The victim, a 14-year-old [name withheld], has been identified as a Junior High School student at Dadeben Basic School.

According to reports, he went swimming with two of his colleagues on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, when the incident occurred.

Information gathered by Opanyin Darko of Angel News about the tragic incident follows the school vacation, on that same day, when they went to swim at Dawa River.

He indicates that the two colleagues reportedly fled the scene after their friend drowned; however, one of them later reported the incident to nearby residents.

A resident, Tai Hayford, helped retrieve the body, but the victim was unfortunately pronounced dead after being rushed to a nearby hospital.

The body has been deposited at a health facility for preservation and autopsy.
