The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Marilyn Maame Efua Houadjeto, has announced plans to expand paragliding activities to Adaklu mountain in the Volta Region.

Speaking to the media, she assured that by next year, GTA will introduce paragliding in Adaklu, in addition to the existing activities in Kwahu.

“We want to spread tourism around the country because we believe in domestic tourism and domestic tourism is not one destination, it is everybody in Ghana and everywhere in Ghana,” she stated.

Mrs. Houadjeto emphasized that GTA aims to decentralize tourism, promoting it across various regions.

The CEO highlighted that the paragliding festival has received GTA support since 2005, noting it is one of the biggest budget allocations for festivals in Ghana.

She stressed that the festival offers a great experience and requires professional support, which has contributed to its growth.

She added that the GTA has supported other festivals, including the Vodza Canoe Regatta Festival, the Gomoa Festival and many others in Ghana.

Mrs. Houadjeto asserted that, measures are being put in place to celebrate paragliding in Adaklu, which boasts huge, tall, and beautiful mountains, making it an ideal location.

“We do not want tourism to be centred in one place, so we will spread it across the country,” she said.
