Communications team member for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Aaron Aseidu Antwi has said that the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) is the grand architect of the big push contract issues.
‎
‎Speaking on Anopa Bofo on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 on President Mahama’s defence on awarding ‘Big Push’ contracts to New Patriotic Party (NPP) linked firms, he emphasized the big push issue stems from the PPA approving contracts that should not be approved.
‎
‎”The big push thing is some of these abatement that is coming from the PPA to approve contracts that should not have being approved, taking the country into financial constraints,” he said.
‎
‎He stated that these challenges stems from sole sourcing contracts that is given to companies, referencing the allegations made by Suleman Brimah of the Fourth Estate.
‎
‎”Ibrahim Suleman Brimah of the Fourth Estate said that there is a company which was established in January 2025 when the NDC came into power and was given a sole sourcing contract, that is actual problem facing us as a country.
‎
‎”The big push is not a matter of the person who has been given whether he has capacity or not, if you give a contract to a company fomer on January 2025,” Mr. Aseidu-Antwi uttered.
‎
‎He alleged that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the PPA approves contracts without checking its details.
‎
‎”Looking at the Procurement approval given to them, Mr. Frank Mantey can organise a board meeting in the morning and approve even without looking at the issue in details, look at Stan Dogbey’s award letter some qualities weren’t provided,” he cited.
‎
‎Mr. Aseidu-Antwi said that the Public Procurement Authority should serve as a stop guard measure to clearly check and ensure the right thing is done.
