The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, stated that Ghana could potentially win the forthcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, slated for June and July.

Ghana will be participating in its 5th World Cup tournament in the USA, Canada, and Mexico after its maiden edition in 2006, followed by 2010, 2014, and 2022.  They will compete in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama.

Speaking ahead of the global showcase, the minister admitted to the challenging times the Black Stars are facing, coupled with their search to appoint a coach after Otto Addo’s departure.

The minister, however, admitted that although the current squad may lack team cohesion and the best qualities, they may emerge as champions of the World.

“I will say that we are preparing. If I tell you that we are ready… we don’t even have a head coach. So it means that we are not fully ready yet. But I see us being ready by the time it’s time for us to play our first game – against Panama.

“This is a World Cup that I see us doing well. We should be hopeful. We may not have the best of players that we had in some time past, based on them playing together for some time.

“But we still have what it takes for us to go very, very far. Maybe possibly even win the World Cup,” Kofi Adams expressed and emphasized in an interview with Channel One TV.
