Hilife musician, Akwaboah Jnr has revealed that he does not use any substances before writing songs.
He made this revelation during an interview on Anopa Bofo on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, while responding to a question from the host, Saddick Adams.
Akwaboah pointed out that the only thing that energises him is when his keyboard produces the right tone, which inspires a song.
“I don’t take substances. I use my natural instincts, when I get the right tone on the keyboard, I feel charged, when I’m in that state, I know I have everything I need,” he said.
According to him, many musicians have their own reasons for using substances, and he believes some feel the need to take something before writing.
He also disclosed his routine: “I write my songs in a very conducive environment. Musicians don’t usually sleep, and we don’t go to the studio in the morning because of the noise.
”I prefer going in the evening and staying until dawn, that’s when songs flow because there are fewer distractions. I usually leave the studio around 6 a.m.”
