Edem was first to pay for my work — Epixode reveals
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Epixode has revealed that rapper Edem was the first person to pay for his creative services, even though he did not initially request payment.

Speaking in an interview with Kafui Dey, Epixode, born Theophilus Nii Arday Otoo, recounted his early days when he was involved in graffiti art before fully pursuing music.

According to him, he contributed graffiti artwork to Edem’s “Heyba” music video at a time when he was not yet known as Epixode.

“I did the graffiti in ‘Heyba’ in the video, all the graffiti in that video. I wasn’t Epixode back then, I was just doing music for the fun of it. And when they were going to shoot the video and needed someone who can draw, they called me,” he said.

He added that he also worked on graffiti for several other music projects, including “Pull Up (Remix)” by Patoranking and Stonebwoy, “Why” by Adina, “Yaakubu” by Sarkodie and KawKese, as well as “Wave” by Joeboy.

Epixode noted that these experiences played a role in shaping his journey in the creative industry before rising to prominence as a musician.
