DVLA seizes 40 vehicles at Tema Harbour over counterfeit DP stickers

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has impounded 40 vehicles at Tema Harbour after an intelligence-led operation uncovered the use of forged Drive from Port (DP) stickers.

In a statement issued on Friday, April 17, 2026, the Authority said its investigations also found cases where authentic DP stickers were applied to vehicles whose records did not match.

Initial findings suggest that the vehicles were imported into the country by CFAO. The DVLA further stated that an agent hired to clear the vehicles on behalf of the company allegedly used unlawful methods, leading to the inconsistencies identified.

The statement said that a recent reduction in the issuance of DP stickers at the ports triggered concerns and prompted deeper checks, culminating in the latest operation.

“The Authority recorded a significant increase in the issuance of DP stickers from an average of 2,000 stickers per month to approximately 15,000 in the month of October 2025.

In recent months, however, a noticeable decline in DP sticker issuance at the ports prompted further invesstigations” the statement said

The DVLA added that it is working with National Security to examine the matter and strengthen efforts to stop fraudulent conduct within the vehicle importation and registration process.
