The Central Committee of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) has adopted a resolution to address ongoing leadership challenges within the party and steering its reorganisation process ahead of internal elections.
In a statement issued by the Committee, the resolution was adopted during a meeting held on April 16, 2026, at the party’s National Headquarters, following comprehensive deliberations on submissions relating to the party’s national leadership structure.
According to the statement, the Committee resolved that the party’s sixteen Regional Chairmen will jointly constitute the national leadership to help resolve what it described as current leadership “chaos” and to guide the party through its reorganisation period leading to the election of substantive executives at all levels.
The Commitee explained that to support the interim arrangement, the committee has constituted five working committees to oversee key areas of party administration and operations.
“Head of Operations and Special Duties : Comrade Opare Addo; Head of Strategy, Planning, and Evaluation : Comrade Nana Mireku Tumi; Head of Organization : Comrade Galo Emmanuel; Head of Legal, Arbitration, and Discipline : Comrade Wayo-Ghanamanti, and Head of Publicity and Communication : Comrade Ali Dayinday Salifu,” the statement revealed.
The statement indicated that the resolution also mandates that financial and resource allocation responsibilities will be developed and implemented by the Regional Chairmen, while the working committees are expected to establish monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to track party development across the regions.
“That all budgetary and resource commitments shall be developed and implemented by the Regional Chairmen,” the statement noted.
It added that the Committees will periodically conduct follow-up meetings, reporting, and reviews as necessary.
“The five Committees shall establish appropriate mechanisms to monitor and evaluate the progress of party development across the regions,” it further stated.
The Committee reaffirmed its commitment to the party’s organizational goals and called on all stakeholders to support the full implementation of the resolution.
