The Media Coalition for Good Governance (MCGG) has commended the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Engineers and Planners Ltd, Ibrahim Mahama for successfully taking over operations at the Damang Mines.

The handover, facilitated by the Government, through the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, marks a significant milestone for the company.

Mr. Mahama has pledged to construct an airport, establish two hospitals, and develop astroturf sports facilities in Damang and surrounding communities within six months.

MCGG welcomes these commitments, noting their potential to transform the local socio-economic landscape.

However, the coalition, in a statement, also highlighted a pressing issue: the politicization of indigenous enterprises in Ghana.

MCGG emphasized that excessive political interference undermines local businesses and entrepreneurs, contrasting Ghana’s situation with countries like Nigeria, where billionaires dominate key sectors.

The coalition called for national development to be prioritized over partisan interests, urging protection for entrepreneurs who invest in the economy and create jobs.
