A police inspector, Desmond Owusu Afriyie, has been arrested for allegedly defiling his 14-year-old daughter.

According to the Ashanti Regional Police Command, the suspect is under active investigation by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), Agona District.

The police disclosed that a formal complaint was made by the victim’s mother, who alleged that Insoector Owusu Afriyie had sexually abused the victim.

“The complaint was lodged on 4th November 2025 by Charlotte Samaa of Koforidua, ER, on behalf of her 14-year-old daughter, Cecilia Owusu Afriyie, alleging that the victim had been sexually abused by her biological father,” according to a statement issued by the police on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

Following the report, the victim was referred for a medical examination at a government health facility to aid investigations.

According to the police, the suspect reported himself to the Agona DOVVSU on February 20, where he was arrested and detained.

Owusu Afriyie was later released on enquiry bail after denying the allegations made against him.
