The body of a two-and-a-half-year-old Nana Yaw has been discovered in a bush three days after he went missing at Assin Awiafitaamu in the Central Region.

According to information gathered by Angel FM’s reporter, Kwame Owusu Asante Shadrach, the child had been left in the care of his siblings by his grandmother, who had gone to the farm on May 13, 2026.

Despite an extensive search by family members and residents, and announcements made through local information centres, Nana Yaw’s whereabouts remained unknown until hunters stumbled upon his body roughly 2km from his home, near a cottage belonging to a man identified as Papa Magye.

Reports further indicated that police inspection of the scene revealed bruises on the child’s head and body. A pair of rubber sandals, believed to belong to Nana Yaw, were found in close proximity to the body.

The police, led by District Crime Officer ASP Charles Akugre, proceeded to the scene and commenced investigations.

The body was subsequently conveyed to the Assin Foso St. Francis Xavier Hospital, where medical officers confirmed the child dead.

An autopsy has been ordered, and the body is currently preserved at the hospital mortuary pending further examination.
