Former Minister of Youth and Sports Mustapha Ussif, distanced himself from the GH¢580,042,347.40 financial irregularities in Ghana’s hosting of the 13th African Games in 2023.

According to him, he is not responsible for the anomalies flagged in the Auditor-General’s report released on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

Mustapha Ussif, who served the ministry under the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration has been flagged in the financial irregularities.

Also, former Chief Director of the Ministry, William Kartey, and former Local Organising Committee Chairman of the competition, Kwaku Ofosu-Asare are two other top officials mentioned in the audit.

The report, which forms part of the ongoing forensic audit into how funds allocated for the Games were spent, follows the directive from President John Mahama.

However, the former minister, responding to the claims in a statement, vehemently denied knowledge of his involvement.
