Former District Chief Executive (DCE) of Atiwa East in the Eastern Region, Kwabena Panyin Nkansah, has passed away.

He died on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at the age of 67.

The demise of the late Mr. Nkansah was confirmed by the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Abena Osei Asare, with whom he worked during the Akufo-Addo-led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

“It is with profound sorrow and a heavy heart that I announce the passing of Hon. Kwabena Panyin Nkansah, former District Chief Executive of Atiwa/Atiwa East, which sad event occurred yesterday,” She said in a statement issued on Wednesday, May 27.

The MP described the loss as deeply personal to many people in Atiwa East and within the NPP fraternity, indicating that Mr. Nkansah was not only the first DCE but also one of the foundational figures of Atiwa East.

Madam Osei Asare eulogized the deceased, noting that he was “committed, experienced, dependable, and deeply devoted” to the cause of the opposition NPP and the welfare of the constituents.

She added that his contributions to the development and political history of Atiwa East will always be remembered.
