A 60-year-old Ghanaian pilgrim, Alhaji Sulemana Iddrisu, has been confirmed dead on the sacred plains of Arafat in Saudi Arabia during the ongoing Hajj pilgrimage, according to the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG).
The office announced with deep sorrow the passing of the deceased while performing Hajj on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
According to PAOG, Alhaji Sulemana has been buried in the Holy Land in accordance with Islamic traditions after his family was duly informed.
It noted that passing in a state of Ihram on the day of Arafat is considered a deeply honorable passing in Islam.
The statement said that under Saudi regulations, those who pass away during the period are officially documented without requiring a replacement to complete Hajj on their behalf.
It further extended heartfelt condolences to the deceased’s family, loved ones, and sympathizers, praying that Allah (SWT) accepts his pilgrimage as Hajj Mabroor, forgives his sins, and grants him Jannatul Firdaus.
