A farmer has died after being electrocuted while seeking shelter from a heavy rainstorm at Assin Breku in the Central Region.
The deceased has been identified as Kwabena Acquah, a father of three believed to be in his early forties.
Eyewitnesses said Acquah had just returned from his farm during a downpour and took refuge on a veranda.
He was electrocuted after leaning against a metal pole supporting the structure that had become electrified.
Community members rushed him to a nearby health facility, but medical personnel pronounced him dead on arrival.
Officials from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in Assin North have visited the scene to assess the situation. The body has been deposited at a mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Police have launched investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the electrocution.
