The Attorney-General has officially informed the High Court in Accra that Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has requested to enter into a plea bargain in the ongoing Exim Bank case.

In the Samreboi matter, where judgment was scheduled to be delivered on 3rd July 2026, the Deputy Attorney-General, Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, notified the court that the 1st accused person, through his counsel, Mr. Andy Appiah-Kubi, Esq., has initiated plea negotiations under Section 162C(3) of Act 30.

The case, docketed as CR/0529/2026, involves three accused parties: Chairman Wontumi, his brother Thomas Antwi-Boasiako (currently at large), and Wontumi Farms Limited.

The prosecution confirmed that the request for plea negotiations has been formally communicated to the Registrar of the High Court for service on the accused persons and their lawyers.

This development marks a significant turn in the high-profile case, which has attracted national attention due to its implications for financial accountability and corporate governance.

The court is expected to consider the Attorney-General’s notification ahead of the scheduled judgment date.
