I’m the pacesetter of red carpet appearance in Ghana – Nana Akua Addo

Nana Akua Addo has come under criticism from some Ghanaians following her recent response to actress Yvonne Nelson, regarding comments she made about red carpet fashion culture years ago.

The controversy began after Nana Akua Addo suggested that Yvonne Nelson’s criticism of celebrities who focused heavily on “slaying” on red carpets was directed at her. Nana Akua further defended her contribution to Ghana’s fashion scene, stating that she helped elevate red carpet fashion and paved the way for many others.

However, her remarks have sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some Ghanaians describing her response as unnecessary and uncalled for.

According to critics, Yvonne Nelson made the comments nearly a decade ago, making Nana Akua Addo’s decision to revisit the issue at this time surprising. Others argued that the actress did not mention Nana Akua Addo by name in her original statement and questioned why the fashion icon felt compelled to respond publicly.

Some social media users also suggested that Nana Akua Addo should focus on celebrating her achievements rather than engaging in past controversies.

Despite the criticism, others have defended Nana Akua Addo, arguing that she has every right to share her perspective and highlight her role in transforming red carpet fashion in Ghana.
