The Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA) has announced that it has received two locomotives and 20 freight wagons for container and cargo operations as a major boost to the country’s railway network.
According to the Authority, preparation now begins for technical commissioning, driver evaluation, and final fit-to-run assessments ahead of entry into service on Ghana’s railway.
This was announced on Facebook by the Chief Executive Officer of GRDA, Frederick Appoh, a few days ahead of schedule.
“GRDA has successfully taken delivery of two locomotives and 20 freight wagons for container (cargo) operations—11 days ahead of schedule. Preparation now begins for technical commissioning, driver evaluation, and final fit-to-run assessments ahead of entry into service on Ghana’s railway network,” he posted.
Mr. Appoh expressed gratitude to everyone involved in making this milestone possible to ensure that the government’s broader agenda to modernise the railway sector is materialised.
