New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicator, Ellen Ama Daaku, has criticised the government over the latest electricity tariff hike, accusing it of “piling more pain” on Ghanaians already crushed by taxes and ‘dumsor.
Speaking on Angel FM’s ‘Anɔpa Bɔfoɔ’, Daaku said the increment betrays promises the NDC made in opposition and deepens hardship for households and businesses.
“The ordinary Ghanaian is already overburdened with taxes. Why impose further financial strain through higher utility costs? The government’s job is to ease the burden on citizens, not worsen it,” Daaku said on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
She described the tariff review as part of “constant increments” in electricity costs, now compounded by the return of erratic power outages.
“The tariff hikes and unreliable power supply reflect a government that has failed to prioritize the welfare of its citizens,” she said.
Daaku warned Ghanaians not to trust the NDC, arguing that its actions in office contradict what it pledged in opposition.
