The Ghana Medical Trust Fund (MahamaCares) has engaged Regional Ministers from across the country to strengthen plans for a nationwide public awareness campaign aimed at ensuring Ghanaians fully understand the Fund’s mandate and how to access its support for life-saving healthcare.

The Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF) has engaged Regional Ministers at the Presidency in a high-level meeting aimed at strengthening plans for a nationwide public awareness campaign on the Fund’s mandate and services.

The meeting brought together the Deputy Chief of Staff, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, the Deputy Minister for Health, Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, Regional Ministers, and the Administrator of GMTF, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku. Discussions focused on the crucial role regional leadership will play in ensuring that every Ghanaian understands the purpose of the Fund and how to access its life-saving support.

Addressing the gathering at the presidency on Friday, June 26, 2026, the Administrator urged Regional Ministers to champion the Trust Fund within their respective regions. She called on them to actively engage traditional leaders, faith-based organisations, healthcare providers, civil society organisations, the media, and local communities to help drive widespread awareness of the initiative.

The Regional Ministers, in response, pledged their full commitment to supporting the programme as the GMTF prepares to roll out stakeholder engagements across all 16 regions of the country.

The initiative is expected to enhance public understanding of the Fund and ensure that more citizens can benefit from specialised healthcare services without financial barriers, reinforcing the goal of leaving no eligible Ghanaian behind in access to life-saving treatment.
