The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has announced the end of the government’s World Cup group-stage ticket support scheme.

It confirmed that 2,922 tickets were procured for Black Stars supporters in Canada, the United States and other parts of the world.

In a statement dated Monday, June 29, 2026, the Ministry said the intervention was not for commercial sale but was part of a “coordinated national support intervention” for selected Ghanaian supporters, recognised groups, sponsors, and diaspora community structures.

The Ministry said the final allocation was 948 tickets for Ghana vs Panama, 1,000 tickets for Ghana vs England, and 974 tickets for Ghana vs Croatia.

Distribution was coordinated through Ghana’s Missions in Canada and the United States, in consultation with recognised Ghanaian associations and supporter groups. Tickets were issued electronically via the FIFA mobile ticketing system to approved individuals or group leads.

The statement acknowledged concerns from many Ghanaians who did not receive tickets.

“Demand was far higher than the number procured, reflecting the strong love and support for the Black Stars,” the Ministry said.

It added: “We fully understand the disappointment of supporters who could not be accommodated within the limited allocation.”

The Ministry also clarified that the government allocation covered only the group-stage matches.

“There is currently no Government-supported ticket arrangement for any subsequent stage of the competition,” it noted. Fans hoping to attend further Black Stars matches have been advised to purchase tickets directly through FIFA’s official platform or accredited agencies.

The Ministry expressed appreciation to Ghana’s Missions in Canada and the U.S., as well as associations and supporter groups, for their role in coordinating the process.

In line with transparency commitments, it said the list of persons, groups, and institutions who received tickets under the scheme will be published at a later date, once the appropriate publication format is agreed upon.

The Ministry further encouraged everyone to continue supporting the Black Stars with unity, discipline, and national pride.
