A 15-year-old JHS 2 student has allegedly injured a JHS 1 boy with a cutlass at Assin Krofofrodo D/A Basic School in the Assin North District after accusing him of repeatedly touching her breasts.
The incident occurred on the school compound during a general clean-up exercise. School authorities had instructed pupils to weed the compound using cutlasses.
According to the girl, the boy repeatedly touched her breasts while they were working. She said she warned him several times to stop, but he ignored her and continued.
The girl alleged that out of frustration, she picked up a cutlass and cut the boy on his inner wrist.
The boy sustained deep wounds and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment after bleeding profusely.
The parents of the injured student have accused the school authorities of negligence. They alleged the school failed to respond quickly after the incident and did not take the boy to the hospital immediately.
According to them, the boy was left unattended for some time and was only taken to hospital when a parent returned from the farm.
Speaking for the family, the victim’s elder sister, Joyce Enyan, has called on the police to investigate the incident and the conduct of the school authorities.
