The Project Team overseeing rehabilitation works on the Ofankor–Nsawam Road has announced a two-month traffic diversion affecting motorists traveling between Pokuase and its Interchange and Amasaman communities.

In a statement, the team said the new traffic management arrangement will take effect from July 9, 2026.

Under the scheme, Kumasi-bound traffic will be diverted from the northbound main carriageway onto the northbound service road between Festus and Sapeiman.

At the same time, Accra-bound traffic will be temporarily moved from the southbound main carriageway onto the southbound service road between Sapeiman and Pokuase Road.

The statement further indicated that during this period, the usual counter-flows from Pokuase to Amasaman through Festus Junction, Fise Junction, and Amasaman Junction will be completely closed to traffic.

To ease the impact on commuters, three alternative routes have been mapped out.

Motorists traveling from Pokuase to Amasaman can continue along Nsawam Road, make a U-turn at the Sapeiman Underpass, then drive southwards and access Amasaman through Toman Junction.

Those heading from Pokuase to Odumase, Fise and Amasaman have been advised to proceed from the Pokuase Footbridge on the Accra-bound lane toward the Pokuase Interchange, join Awoshie Road, and turn right at Odumase Junction. From there, drivers can continue along Sonitra Road to Fise or Amasaman. An extended option is also available from Sonitra Road through 3 Junction and Elephant Road to Amasaman.

For road users coming from Ofankor to Odumase, Fise and Amasaman, the recommended route is to use the Pokuase Interchange toward Awoshie Road, turn right at Odumase Junction, and continue via Sonitra Road. Drivers can also opt to proceed through 3 Junction and Elephant Road to reach Amasaman.

The Project Team has urged all motorists to comply with traffic directional signs and instructions that will be placed along the affected sections of the road.

It also expressed regret over any inconvenience the diversion may cause and appealed to the general public for cooperation as rehabilitation works on the Ofankor–Nsawam Road continue.
