Ghana needs consistent development, not leadership changes – Akwasi Addai Odike

Businessman and leader of the Union Government, Akwasi Addai Odike, is calling for Ghana to adopt a long-term national development plan, arguing that the country’s progress should not be tied to political party cycles.

Speaking on Angel FM’s ‘Anɔpa Bɔfoɔ’ on Monday, July 13, 2026, Mr. Odike said Ghana requires consistency in policy implementation rather than constant shifts that come with changes in government.

“The country needs consistency in its development rather than focusing on who is in charge or how long leaders remain in office,” he stated.

He noted that manifestos presented by the New Patriotic Party since 1992 have failed to deliver the level of national development Ghanaians expect. According to him, the repeated change of political administrations has disrupted continuity and stalled key projects.

Mr. Odike stressed that it is time for the country to agree on a national vision that transcends individual governments. He proposed that Ghana should commit to a 20-year development plan that successive administrations would be bound to implement.

“The country should agree on a long-term development plan for the next 20 years and remain committed to implementing it for the benefit of all citizens,” he said.

He maintained that such an approach will ensure stability, prevent the abandonment of projects, and guarantee that national development benefits every Ghanaian, regardless of which party is in power.
