The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested Daniel Victor Eze and David Oko Ewa in connection with the killing of 36-year-old Nigerian national, Nkemujika Uzorchuku Eze, whose body was found in his residence at Sanzirigu, Tamale.
According to the Northern Regional Police Command, the deceased lived in a three-bedroom apartment with his wife, Peace Uzorchuku, the two suspects and another Nigerian national, Godwin Nwafor. Police began investigations after receiving a report that the victim had been found lying motionless in a pool of blood inside his bedroom.
Crime scene investigators found the deceased with a deep cut to his forehead and a towel stuffed into his mouth, while the room had been ransacked. Officers recovered a wooden pestle believed to have been used in the attack, along with other items for forensic examination.
The body was later confirmed dead at the Tamale Teaching Hospital and deposited at the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Police said intelligence-led operations led to the arrest of the two suspects at Tatale later the same day as they allegedly attempted to flee into neighbouring Togo. They were subsequently handed over to the Tamale District CID to assist with ongoing investigations.
During interrogation, the Police said the suspects allegedly admitted conspiring to kill the deceased, claiming he had withheld proceeds from internet fraud activities. A search conducted after their arrest led to the recovery of mobile phones, laptop computers, a tablet, jewellery, clothing, wristwatches, personal documents and other valuables suspected to have been stolen from the victim’s room.
The suspects remain in Police custody and were expected to appear before court on Monday, 13 July 2026. The Northern Regional Police Command says it remains committed to bringing everyone involved to justice and has appealed to the public to continue providing credible information to support efforts to combat crime.
