The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has announced a review of curfew hours in parts of the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region.
Acting on the advice of the National Security Council and by Executive Instrument, the curfew will now run from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. daily, effective Monday, July 13, 2026.
The affected communities are: Keri, Abrewanko, Abrewanko Junction, NyamboNyambo Junction, Shari, Kromase, Power, Nyakoma, Odomi, Bonakye, Nkwanta.
In a statement, the ministry urged Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and residents of the area to exercise restraint and adopt non-violent means in addressing challenges, with a call to channel efforts toward ensuring peace.
In addition, a total ban has been placed on the possession of arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons in the listed communities.
“Persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted,” It warned.
