The People’s National Convention (PNC) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of His Royal Majesty the Ya-Na Abukari III, describing his reign as a symbol of wisdom, unity and service to Dagbon and Ghana.

In a condolence message issued on July 14, 2026, the party extended its sympathies to the Royal Family, Regent, Kingmakers, Chiefs, Elders and the entire people of the Dagbon Kingdom during their period of mourning.

Signed by the party’s leader, Bernard A. Mornah, the statement said the late Ya-Na was a distinguished traditional ruler whose leadership reflected dignity, peace and commitment to the cultural heritage and development of Dagbon.

“The late Ya-Na was a distinguished traditional ruler whose reign embodied wisdom, dignity, unity, and an unwavering commitment to the peace, progress, and cultural heritage of Dagbon,” the statement said.

The PNC noted that the influence of the late Ya-Na extended beyond Dagbon, contributing significantly to national cohesion and peaceful coexistence among Ghanaians.

The party said it stands in solidarity with the people of Dagbon as they mourn the loss of a revered traditional leader, while praying for strength, comfort and fortitude for the bereaved Kingdom.

The statement further urged that the legacy of the late Ya-Na continue to inspire future generations to uphold the values of peace, justice, unity and selfless service.

“The People’s National Convention respectfully joins the nation in mourning this great son of Ghana,” the statement added.

The PNC concluded its message with prayers for the peaceful rest of His Royal Majesty the Ya-Na Abukari III.
