A 37-year-old driver, Emmanuel Ayisi Justice, and his mate, Emmanuel Dankyi, have died after lodging in a hotel room in Nkawkaw that was allegedly fumigated a day earlier.
The two, who were transporting charcoal from Donkorkrom to Accra, checked into Elsie Hotel late at night.
The next morning, hotel staff found the driver unconscious and his mate weak after hearing unusual sounds from their room. They were rushed to Kenop Care Hospital but were pronounced dead.

According to the Nkawkaw District Police Command, the room had been fumigated for bedbugs, and staff had been told not to use it for two days.
Police say the security officer on duty allegedly ignored the directive and allocated the room to the victims.
Investigators suspect the men died after inhaling toxic fumes.
Their bodies have been deposited at the Holy Family Hospital morgue for autopsy as police continue investigations. The security officer is assisting police.
