A Communications Team member of the Movement For Change (MFC), Solomon Owusu, has advised Ghanaians, especially football enthusiasts, to understand the evolution of the sport.

He emphasized that it has moved beyond the mere pursuit of three points, as many perceive.

Speaking with Saddick Adams on the Angel Morning Show (AMS), Mr. Owusu noted that although football has three possible outcomes: a win, a draw, or a defeat, which only one applies to a team in any given match, however, it should not be a cause for violence at stadiums.

“There are similar brawls at venues like Dormaa and Agyeman Badu, and we are all aware of this. People are often beaten, and it appears that football has transformed into a more violent game. We must refrain from this because it seems our lives are being consumed by violence,” he said.

Solomon Owusu’s remarks were in response to the recent stadium disaster at Nsuatre, where a fan lost his life during a game between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC.

He used the platform to call on the leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to prioritize security measures at match venues.

However, he also expressed his belief that GFA President Kurt Okraku should step down from his position, stating that he has failed to fulfill his mandate in overseeing football in Ghana.
